SHARON WHEATLEY – FREDDY© AWARDS MASTERCLASS
For 22 years, the FREDDY© Awards Program as been proud to recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theatre in high schools in Lehigh and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania and Warren County, New Jersey. This year, we are expanding our program to include educational masterclasses with some of Broadway’s biggest stars.
Our inaugural masterclass is with Broadway’s Sharon Wheatley! During this masterclass she will be working with students on performance and audition techniques.
The masterclass is set to take place on Wednesday, November 15th from 6:00PM – 9:00PM, and is free for all students currently enrolled in a FREDDY© participating high school, and 2023 FREDDY alumni. While the masterclass is free, please remember that spots are limited — if you are chosen to participate or observe and learn you cannot make it, please let us know ASAP so we can fill your spot with someone who can.
About Sharon:
Sharon Wheatley was most recently seen on Broadway in the hit musical, Come From Away, where she originated the role of Diane & Others, and performed the show throughout its entire pre-Broadway and Broadway run, including the production filmed and currently available on AppleTV. Other Broadway credits include: Les Miserables (Cosette and Eponine), The Phantom of the Opera (Madame Firman) , Avenue Q (Kate Monster), and Cats (Jennyanydots). Important Information for Applicants
Applicants chosen for the masterclass will be sent a confirmation email prior to the event. Please note, while we would love to offer individual coaching to all applicants, we have a highly limited number of coaching spots available. We encourage students to apply with the knowledge that they may be student observers. Students chosen for coaching will find out at the beginning of the masterclass session. If you are interested in attending solely as a student observer, please indicate that on the form; you will also receive a confirmation email if you are chosen for an observation spot.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to FREDDY© Awards Producer and Assistant Coordinator, Kori Lotito, klotito@statetheatre.org.
